Meet the Creator of SABORDS
What sets SABORDS apart from every other men's underwear brand?
SABORDS challenges the very foundation of men's underwear.
To this day, there is nothing else quite like it.
This isn't about creating a trendier boxer brief or introducing a new fabric or pattern. It's about rethinking the product from the ground up.
Every aspect of its construction has been redesigned around the male body, creating an entirely new wearing experience.
Protected by patent, SABORDS introduces a unique anatomical architecture that completely redefines how men's underwear functions.
Rather than improving a conventional design, SABORDS breaks away from it entirely.
Why did you decide to create a completely new type of men's underwear?
Because one day I simply couldn't stand wearing my boxer briefs anymore.
It happened during a hot summer day on Noirmoutier Island, on France's Atlantic coast.
Out of frustration, I grabbed a pair of scissors and cut open the front of my underwear.
That single moment became the starting point of everything that followed.
I began asking myself a simple question:
Why has virtually every men's underwear brand been built around the exact same concept for decades?
Almost every boxer brief uses a front pouch made from three seams that places the entire anatomy into one confined space.
Brands compete with colors, prints, fabrics and waistbands.
But fundamentally, the design has barely changed.
I wasn't trying to invent something unusual.
I simply wanted to create the underwear I had always wished existed.
SABORDS isn't intended to replace the traditional boxer brief with something strange.
I believe it represents its natural evolution.
The objective is straightforward:
to restore a genuine feeling of freedom while preserving the support, discretion and security expected from premium men's underwear.
What keeps you motivated?
Sharing it.
After wearing this invention myself for several years, I couldn't keep it to myself.
It genuinely improved my everyday comfort, and I felt it deserved to be shared with other men.
My ambition is simple:
to help redefine men's comfort for generations to come.
Is every SABORDS garment really made in France?
Yes. Every single one.
From the very beginning, I chose to manufacture SABORDS entirely in France.
Our country has a long tradition of exceptional knitwear craftsmanship, particularly in the city of Troyes, internationally recognized for producing premium-quality garments.
Building a SABORDS garment requires remarkable precision.
Every seam has a specific purpose.
That level of quality simply wouldn't exist without the expertise of the French workshops and highly skilled seamstresses who have supported this project from the beginning.
People say old habits are hard to break. Was that true for you?
Absolutely.
For decades I wore conventional briefs and boxer briefs without ever questioning them.
I experienced pressure, friction and a constant feeling of confinement.
Like most men, I assumed that was simply how underwear was supposed to feel.
Everything changed when I started wearing my own prototypes.
Only then did I realize how easily we adapt to imperfect comfort.
It's often impossible to recognize a problem until you've experienced a better solution.
The same applies to everyday habits.
With traditional underwear, you instinctively pull down the waistband when using the restroom.
With SABORDS, that habit gradually disappears.
The movement becomes more natural, simpler and more intuitive.
The first few days feel different.
Soon afterward, it becomes second nature.
Why the name "SABORDS"?
A sabord was the opening built into the side of historic sailing warships through which cannons could fire.
I loved the symbolism of an opening intentionally designed to perform a precise function.
The name also reflects a personal experience.
When I was twenty years old, I crossed the Atlantic Ocean aboard a sailing yacht.
One of the very first lessons I learned was that many accidents happen when sailors urinate over the side of a boat.
At sea, even an ordinary movement can become dangerous.
There's an old sailor's saying that perfectly captures this idea:
"One hand for yourself. One hand for the boat."
The front opening on SABORDS naturally leaves one hand free, allowing you to maintain your balance or hold onto something whenever necessary.
Of course, this feature wasn't designed exclusively for sailors.
It simply reflects the philosophy behind SABORDS:
making everyday actions simpler, more natural and, in certain situations, safer.
